DONCASTER ST LEGER 1868

The 93rd winner of the St Leger, held on Wednesday 9th September 1868 over the 1 mile 6 furlongs and 132 yards of Town Moor, was Formosa, a chestnut filly by Buccaneer out of Ella, owned by Mr William Graham. A field of 12 runners contested the race, although there were 238 subscriptions of 25 sovereigns each, which was worth 5950 sovereigns. The value to the winner was £5,825 (Equivalent to £600,000 in 2017)
